Master Simon Preston is our Instructor for the Birmingham South Region. Teaching from a platform of nearly twenty years Martial Arts experience Master Preston is well placed to extol the positive benefits of introduction to the Martial Arts for young people. As a secondary school teacher he believes that the improved concentration inherent within regular practice can really give youngsters an educational head start.
Master Preston brings with him a wealth of Martial Arts success and experience spanning 20 years beginning his Tang Soo Do career in 1987 at the age of 7.
In 1991 Master Preston achieved 1st Dan at the age of 11, 2nd Dan in 1995 and 3rd Dan in 1998. From this time Master Preston attended university and whilst there he broadened his martial arts experience by studying Taekwondo to the rank of 1st Dan.
Upon graduation, Master Preston then began studing Secondary Mathematics Education (PGCE) at Cambridge University before becoming a mathematics teacher.
In September 2007, Master Preston had the great honour of taking his Ko Dan Ja Shim Sa (Master Level Grading) alongside his brother and in front of Kwan Jang Nim Andy Ah Po (8th Dan Grandmaster) & Sa Bom Nim Stephen Propst (6th Dan Master) and was successfully awarded the rank of 4th Dan Master as a result of this special event. Master Preston is also proud that all his Dan grades were certified by the Late Great Grandmaster and Founder Hwang Kee.
He believes his success is very much thanks to the positive benefits of learning a traditional martial art. And in order to put back into Tang Soo Do what he has learnt, he feels he must share his knowledge and experience with the younger generation to they too can experience the same success.
